About the How To Series

This series of discussion-oriented "How To" events is designed to aid early career researchers across the 91Ï㽶¶ÌÊÓƵ System. It covers essential topics that aren't usually discussed in class, that we delay learning about, that we're reluctant to bring up, or that require soft skills. For example, how do you go about asking for a letter of recommendation? How do you design and present an effective academic poster? What are the warning signs that a lab or fellowship isn't a good fit? How do you choose the journal that's right for your research? We'll give you access to experts who can walk you through best practices so you can accelerate your career. We're also interested in hearing your ideas for future topics! Please submit them to nextgen@umsystem.edu.
